Abstract
⺠Inspiratory loading during exercise increases limb and respiratory muscle deoxygenation. ⺠Greater respiratory muscle deoxygenation during inspiratory loading likely reflects increased O2 extraction. ⺠Increased locomotor muscle O2 extraction may facilitate increased O2 delivery to the respiratory muscles.
