Abstract
⺠Neurons located within the locus coeruleus of the bullfrog brainstem are exquisitely sensitive to physiological changes in pH. ⺠Some individual neurons of the locus coeruleus are intrinsically chemosensitive. ⺠Membrane resistance of intrinsically chemosensitive neurons in the locus coeruleus increase during hypercapnic acidosis.
