Abstract
⺠The assessment of mechanics during mechanical ventilation may improve clinical outcomes. ⺠Conventional monitoring and management is hindered by inaccurate measurement of intrapulmonary pressures and by the use of static measurements to assess dynamic events. ⺠We review investigative techniques and dynamic models that may improve the characterization of dynamic ventilation and improve patient outcomes.
