Abstract
► Both exogenous and endogenous CO could activate BKCa channels in RVLM neurons. ► Blocking BKCa channels could partially abolish rhythmic respiratory effects induced by CO. ► BKCa channels were involved in CO-mediated central regulation of respiratory rhythm in medullary slices of neonatal rats.
