Abstract
- Protein pre-adsorption on stainless steel has been investigated as a means to influence the behavior of protein fouling during normal heat exchanger operation.
- Pre-adsorptions were done with whey proteins and ovalbumin.
- Protein pre-adsorptions mitigated the fouling of egg ovalbumin, however they had no effect on the fouling of whey proteins.
- The surfaces with pre-adsorption of proteins turned more hydrophilic.
