Abstract
- Hybrid microparticles composed of lambda carrageenin and CaCO3 were developed.
- Carragenin was flouresceinated and determined inside the microparticles by FTIR synchrotron bean line and confocal microscopy.
- Doxorubicin was encapsulated on nanoporous hybrid microparticles.
- Derivatization of the microparticles with folic acid increases the cancer cell targeting.
- The NhPs' anticancer activity was tested on the human-osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 resulting in a 13% and 100% cell viability with and without Dox respectively.
