► Cell responses to nanotextured platinum surfaces produced by glancing angle deposition (GLAD). ► Nanotopography modulates cell growth on platinum by affecting focal adhesions and cell spreading. ► Cell viability is not affected on nanotextured surfaces. ► Growth reduction is associated with a decreased expression of migrationrelated genes.
