Hemoglobin binding from human blood hemolysate with poly(glycidyl methacrylate) beads

► The proteomic studies to identify low-abundance proteins and biomarkers have been largely affected by the high abundance of some proteins like Hb. ► We used IDA immobilized PGMA beads with chelated Cu2+ ions as a carrier capable of selective binding of Hb from human plasma. ► PGMA-IDA-Cu2+ beads offered the promising strategy with Hb depletion amount up to 97.5%. ► The selectivity of the PGMA-IDA-Cu2+ beads for Hb was confirmed via FPLC where only one peak was observed.
