Abstract
⺠Serotonin has been shown to play an important pathogenic role in epilepsy. ⺠Decreased CNS serotonergic activity has been shown in animals models of epilepsy. ⺠Decreased binding of the 5HT-1A receptor has been identified in humans with TLE. ⺠SSRIs exert antiepileptic activity in several animal models of epilepsy.
