Abstract
⺠Temporal lobe epilepsy can present with recurrent episodes of transient amnesia. ⺠Onset in middle age and amnesia on awakening are typical of this presentation. ⺠Persistent impairment of remote autobiographical memory occurs in 2/3 of patients. ⺠Accelerated loss of information over hours-weeks occurs in 1/2 of patients. ⺠These interictal memory difficulties are not detected by standard memory tests.
