⺠Emotional stress has long been thought to influence seizure occurrence. ⺠Stress hormones may influence neuronal excitability and seizure susceptibility. ⺠The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis may regulate both stress and seizures. ⺠Aspects of glucocorticoid receptor function may be targets for medications.
