► No significant correlations were found between parent and youth reported coping. ► Youth negative coping was significantly related to depressive symptoms. ► 27% of youth endorsed suicidal ideation. ► Preliminary findings support the Kidcope as a measure of epilepsy-specific coping. ► Youth coping, suicidality, and depressive symptoms are important to assess.
