Abstract
► γ-Aminobutyric acid-mediated Cl- influx blockade causes tonic-clonic epileptic seizures. ► Tonic-clonic convulsions are followed by antinociception. ► The cholinergic system and nucleus raphe magnus modulate pain after seizures. ► Cholinergic inputs to the nucleus raphe magnus modulate postictal antinociception. ► Nucleus raphe magnus muscarinic and nicotinic receptors are involved in both interictal and postictal analgesia.
