Abstract
⺠Polish historical publications on epilepsy dating from 16th century are reviewed. ⺠Medieval publications divided causes into internal (causa interna) and external (causa externa). ⺠Medieval medical treatments for epilepsy included surgical and pharmacological interventions. ⺠First publications on epilepsy are foundation of our current knowledge and, as primitive as they are, deserve recognition.
