Abstract
► A retrospective pre-post analysis was conducted using multistate Medicaid data. ► Long-term clinical and cost benefits of vagus nerve stimulation therapy in drug-resistant epilepsy were evaluated. ► Health care resource use and epilepsy-related clinical events decreased post-implantation. ► Vagus nerve stimulation therapy was associated with net cost savings starting about 1.5 years post-implantation.
