Abstract
⺠Obsessive-compulsive disorder occurs in ~25% of patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. ⺠Neurobiological factors indicate abnormalities in frontal-thalamic-striatal-cingulate-frontal circuits. ⺠Damage or surgery along these circuits may produce or reduce obsessive-compulsive disorder in temporal lobe epilepsy. ⺠Recent treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder with invasive deep brain stimulation is controversial.
