Abstract
⺠Epilepsy severity is an important predictor of quality of life. ⺠Overall, persons with epilepsy are less likely to be married. ⺠Social support is particularly important for persons with active epilepsy. ⺠Marriage and social support buffer the negative impact of chronic illness. ⺠Socially isolated persons with active seizures report poorer life satisfaction.
