Abstract
⺠Intrinsic hyperexcitability is observed in NPCs and neurons obtained from wobbler mouse NPCs. ⺠Na current density and spike generation increase during in vitro differentiation of NPCs. ⺠NPCs from the SVZ provide an in vitro model to study the discharge properties of cortical neurons. ⺠NPCs may provide an “in vitro” model to study cortical hyperexcitability of ALS patients. ⺠NPCs may help to identify pharmacological tools to counteract neurodegeneration in ALS.
