Abstract
► Study results give an explanation of how DBS in the PPTg achieves therapeutic effects. ► Modulation by PPTg DBS decreases firing rate in the STN in hemi-parkinsonian rats. ► DBS in the PPTg is related with alteration of pathological oscillatory activities. ► Therapeutic efficacy could be achieved by the manipulation of the PPN area.
