Abstract
⺠Cobalamin (Cbl) deficiency increases PrPC levels in the SC and CSF of the rat. ⺠Antibodies against the OR-region of a PrPC molecule normalize SC myelin in Cbl-D rats. ⺠Cbl deficiency reduces SC PrPC-mRNA levels, which are increased by Cbl replacement. ⺠EGF and anti-TNF-α-antibodies prevent SC PrPC increase in Cbl-D rats. ⺠Chronic PrPC administration to otherwise normal rats induces SC myelin lesions.
