Abstract
⺠We applied magnetic stimulation in the normal and parkinsonian primate. ⺠We recorded neuronal activity in the cortex and basal ganglia during stimulation. ⺠Cortical neurons responded to stimulation similarly in both states. ⺠Basal ganglia neurons responded to stimulation only in the parkinsonian state. ⺠Abnormal activity transmission is a major component in parkinsonian pathophysiology.
