Abstract
⺠Bone marrow mononuclear (BMC) cells were transplanted to epileptic rats. ⺠Marked reduction in frequency and duration of seizures were observed. ⺠Treatment with BMCs decreased neuronal loss and/or induced an endogenous neurogenesis. ⺠BMCs transplantation downregulated the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines mRNA. ⺠BMCs transplantation upregulated the expression of IL-10 in the brain.
