Abstract
⺠OGD elicited cytotoxicity in hippocampal slices is not CD36 dependent. ⺠Microglia activation induced injury in hippocampal slices is also not CD36 dependent. ⺠Tissue damage by activated bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMM) is CD36 dependent. ⺠CD36 gene knockout dampens superoxide production in activated BMM. ⺠Reduction in peroxynitrite formation in CD36â/â BMM leads to neuroprotection.
