Abstract
⺠shRNA SMN lentiviral transduction causes 70% SMN protein level reduction in cultured motoneurons. ⺠SMN protein reduction causes neurite degeneration, SMN and neurofilament accumulation in neurite “blebs”. ⺠SMN protein reduction causes late motoneuron cell death. ⺠Motoneuron degeneration caused by SMN knockdown can be rescued by Bcl-xL overexpression.
