Abstract
⺠How VSTM maintenance affects visual processing is a question of much debate. ⺠We examined how VSTM modulates the strength of concurrent visual adaptation. ⺠VSTM content weakened visual adaptation, even when identical with the adapter. ⺠TMS study demonstrated that this inhibitory effect occurs in early visual cortex.
