Abstract
⺠MRI studies inconsistently report higher brain iron content in older adults. ⺠This meta-analysis found high iron content with advanced age in several regions. ⺠Age-related iron content was higher in the neostriatum and substantia nigra. ⺠Differences in estimation method partly explained the variability between studies.
