Variation in longitudinal trajectories of regional brain volumes of healthy men and women (ages 10 to 85Â years) measured with atlas-based parcellation of MRI

► Linear mixed effects modeled MRI age trajectories in 151 individuals, 10-85 years ► Correction factors enabled merging 1.5 T and 3 T data for longitudinal analysis ► Trajectories showed accelerated loss in selective cortical volumes in the elderly ► Ventricular and Sylvian fissure expansion accelerated in older age ► White matter expanded in youth and accelerated in loss more in elderly men than in women
