Abstract
⺠We compared high gamma activity (HGA) and BOLD responses with a language task. ⺠There was a positive correlation between HGA and BOLD in multiple language areas. ⺠The temporal language area, however, showed spatial dissociation of HGA and BOLD. ⺠HGA in the temporal lobe quickly declined, whereas the frontal HGA lasted longer. ⺠This study explains why language-fMRI hardly detects BOLD in the temporal lobe.
