► Functional networks involved in distinct epochs of a WM task were identified. ► Network-specific HDR shapes were generated using multivariate methodology. ► All networks were significantly sensitive to a delay period manipulation. ► Reduced activation of temporal regions persisted through the delay period. ► The multiple demand network activated at the probe epoch.
