Abstract
⺠Numerous effects of halogenated anesthetics detected in the intact brain by 1H MRS ⺠Isoflurane regioselectively caused major rapidly reversible rise in brain lactate. ⺠Brain lactate correlated with concentration and potency of the halogenated agents. ⺠Most of isoflurane effects were attenuated by antiadrenergic drugs. ⺠Metabolic alterations by isoflurane need consideration in functional neuroimaging.
