Abstract
► Mental arithmetic and finger discrimination rely on common parietal areas in adults. ► Parietal activation induced by finger discrimination is not hand-specific. ► Voxelwise correlations between tasks are used to explore further the neural overlap. ► Neural overlap varies as a function of hemisphere and arithmetic operation. ► Finger representations might offer a support for arithmetic operations.
