Abstract
► We examine control over an immediately rewarding stimulus in order to obtain a larger delayed reward. ► Inhibitory control efficiency was improved during a reward-related Go/No-go condition. ► Associated with BOLD signal hypoactivity in regions implicated in emotion and inhibitory control. ► Associated with BOLD signal hypoactivity in regions implicated in visual attention. ► Gratification can be delayed by disengaging attention from an immediately rewarding stimulus.
