Abstract
► First systematic description of EEG Microstates in wake and NREM sleep stages. ► Four wake microstate maps remain conserved in sleep, and their stability increases. ► Results suggest that microstates are reflecting functional large-scale networks. ► Microstate previously associated with attention diminishes in deep sleep. ► Suggesting functional changes in spatially maintained networks throughout sleep.
