Abstract
⺠Neural responses to sequences of speech and non-speech (bird) sounds were examined. ⺠The statistical structure (SS) of the auditory sequences was manipulated. ⺠The supratemporal plane (STP) was sensitive to the SS of all sequences. ⺠Some areas responded to speech and non-speech but coded SS in only one input type. ⺠Areas preferring speech but coding SS in all sequences were also found.
