Very early modulation of brain responses to neutral faces by a single prior association with an emotional context: Evidence from MEG

► The memory trace of neutral faces integrates emotional contextual information. ► This emotional memory trace affects face processing as early as between 30 and 60 ms. ► Occipito-temporal and anterior medial temporal regions subtend this early effect. ► Thus face perception is shaped by the emotional context of a single prior encounter.
