A spatiotemporal dynamic distributed solution to the MEG inverse problem

► Evidence suggests brain activity is a distributed spatiotemporal dynamic process. ► We develop a spatiotemporal dynamic source model that approximates local cortical interactions. ► The dMAP-EM algorithm is derived to estimate dipole sources and model parameters. ► The dMAP-EM algorithm is applied to simulated and human experimental MEG data. ► Our algorithm improves spatial and temporal localization compared to other methods.
