Abstract
Recent developments are summarized in understanding antifoaming action by oil drops and solid particles, either separately or in combination, on aqueous foams. Of particular significance is a paper by N.D. Denkov [Denkov, N.D., Mechanisms of foam destruction by oil-based antifoams. Langmuir 2004; 20:9463–9505.], which describes research leading to several advances in understanding mechanisms of oil-based antifoams.
