Abstract
⺠This study investigates true and false gist-based recognition using fMRI. ⺠Gist is the general thematic information that accumulates over multiple exemplars. ⺠As gist increases, neural regions involved in true memory contribute to false memory. ⺠Regions involved in perceptual and constructive processes contribute to gist memory.
