Recording of fast activity at the onset of partial seizures: Depth EEG vs. scalp EEG

► We model EEG signals during the rapid discharges (RDs) occurring at seizure onset. ► We examine the 'observability' of RDs as recorded from depth and scalp electrodes. ► In our model, RDs are almost not visible in scalp EEG while easily seen in depth EEG. ► We identified some of the factors that may limit the observability of RDs in scalp EEG.
