Abstract
⺠We examined whether high Thrill and Adventure Seekers (TAS) process risk differently. ⺠High TAS showed greater neural sensitivity to rewards than low TAS. ⺠Low TAS showed greater neural sensitivity to punishments than high TAS. ⺠The brain response to reward appears to outweigh the impact of loss in high TAS. ⺠Imbalance in brain activation related to reward vs. punishment during risk-taking may lead to greater risk behavior in high TAS.
