Abstract
► Experienced amphetamine-type stimulant (ATS) users exhibit decreased gray matter volume in the medial orbitofrontal cortex and the medial dorsal anterior cingulate cortex after correction for age, education, and time since last use of ATS. ► Gray matter volume values and log-transformed ATS use parameters were negatively correlated. ► Using alignment invariant white matter tract representations as a reference for inter-subject brain registration in voxel-based morphometry is a sensitive tool to detect gray matter abnormalities.
