Abstract
⺠Learning to read is essentially multi-sensory in nature. ⺠Fluent reading development requires successful orthographic-phonological binding. ⺠Letter-speech sound pairs slowly develop into fully integrated audiovisual objects. ⺠Orthographic-phonological integration occurs in an occipitotemporal reading network. ⺠Dyslexic readers associate but do not adequately integrate letter?sound pairs.
