Abstract
► With fMRI we investigated the existence of a neural time 'accumulator'. ► Accumulator like activity was found in putamen, insula and mid temporal cortex. ► This effect was time and modality specific. ► This result points to 'accumulation' as plausible mechanism for time perception. ► It highlights the specific functional contribution of brain areas in interval timing.
