⺠Cultures vary on the extent to which social hierarchies are emphasized. ⺠Social hierarchy preference is associated with ingroup favoritism. ⺠Members of a hierarchy preference culture display greater ingroup empathy biases. ⺠Ingroup empathy biases related to activity in the temporo-parietal junction.
