Abstract
► Stuttering participants were scanned during speech with and without auditory pacing. ► Stuttering speakers showed smaller signal change at the basal ganglia than controls. ► The pacing selectively increased the activation of the STG of stuttering speakers. ► Neural activity reflects the stuttering severity rather than the stuttering rate.
