Abstract
⺠Vowel formant structure and periodicity were violated separately or together. ⺠Specific activity for both parameters was evaluated by MEG and EEG. ⺠Results showed stimulus-specific sustained responses for formants and periodicity. ⺠The specific responses were both generated in lateral Heschl's gyrus. ⺠Lateral Heschl's gyrus may be generally specialized for vowel (speech) perception.
