Where sound position influences sound object representations: A 7-T fMRI study

►fMRI at 7 T allows activation mapping with high spatial resolution and specificity. ►Unilaterally presented sounds induce bilateral activation on the supratemporal plane. ►Small clusters are significantly more activated by contralaterally presented stimuli. ►Sound position sensitive areas are found lateral and posterior to A1. ►Separation of the What and Where processing streams may start within auditory cortex.
