Abstract
⺠NCAA athletes are at increased for skin cancer with 4 hours/day and 10 months/year of sun exposure. ⺠Despite 96% agreement that sunscreen prevents skin cancer, 43% never use sunscreen. ⺠Having a coach speak about sunscreen was associated with increased use. ⺠Female gender and perceived risk for cancer significantly predicted sunscreen use. ⺠Targeted education for sun safety is vital in this high-risk athlete population.
