► Acceptability of incentives for quitting among disadvantaged smokers was explored. ► Also factors associated with acceptability and preferred incentive amounts. ► Most participants believed incentives would motivate smokers to quit smoking. ► High acceptability was related to smoking status and socioeconomic status. ► 37% of participants believed over $500 AUD would be an acceptable amount.
