► This is the first French study focusing on jogging behavior as a separate outcome. ► Associations between environmental characteristics and jogging were examined. ► Three outcomes: probability of jogging, time spent jogging and location of practice. ► Increasing individual education will increase the probability of jogging. ► The quality of green/open spaces is associated with a high probability of jogging.\
